10:00. 'I believe that the movement ´Maidan´is unreal. It doesn't represent the real Maidan. Quantity of the politicians, who became a part of this council is not relevant to the influence they exert on (Kyiv's Independence) Square', said a well-known Ukrainian artist Alexander Roitburd in an interview to LB.ua.

10:30. Doctors said that state of health of journalist Tatнana Chornovol, battered on December 25, is stable and satisfactory, and she can be released from the hospital.

10:48. The opposition said that Christmas night on Kyiv's Independence Square passed without any provocations.

13:25. The Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Kyiv Patriarchate Filaret said that the authorities should punish, and the church and the people standing on Euromaidan - forgive.

14:10. Beaten journalist Tatyana Chornovol said nobody had asked her whether she wanted to leave the hospital.

15:15. Three cases against Ukraine will be revisited by the European Court of Human Rights on January 9. These include case of Haynatsky against Ukraine, Kiseleva and others against Ukraine, and Semyanistiy and others against Ukraine.

The claimants in these cases complain mostly about delaying a decision on their cases and the lack of effective remedies in respect of these complaints. They refer to Article 6 §1 (right for a fair trial within a reasonable time), Article 13 (right for an effective remedy) and Article 1 of Protocol number 1 (protection of property) of the European Convention.

16:16. The opposition leaders promised to unveil a program of action and called on Euromaidan activists 'to gain a bit of patience and wisdom', said chairman of the opposition 'Batkivshchyna' faction Arseniy Yatsenyuk.

16:53. Euromaidan activists beat and doused a student of one of the capital's universities with Brilliant Green, suspecting that he was a provocateur.

17:31. Leader of the opposition party 'UDAR' Vitali Klitschko said that the only condition for the victory in the presidential elections in 2015 is a nomination of a single opposition candidate.

17:55. The illumination on Kyiv's Independence Square has been disabled.

19:48. Police accused one of the coordinators of Euromaidan in Kharkov, Alexander Chizhov, taken to the local district police station on suspicion of distributing pornography on the Internet, of unwillingness to cooperate.
